Founded in 2005, the WNDX Festival of Moving Image programs innovative moving image works from across the globe, with a mandate to showcase films made by our immediate community. We celebrate the impetus of screening work from underrepresented communities who are often ignored by mainstream film festival circuits, and strive to find the most innovative, challenging and original moving image works. As artists who curate other artists, we are committed to paying artists fees for all the work we feature.  We also offer off-festival screenings for our communities. All screenings, installations and performances take place in city of Winnipeg, which is in Treaty 1 territory, and is the traditional territory of Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation. Our mandate also includes collaborative program initiatives with other prairie Artist Run Centers.

Our mandate includes educational and training initiatives created for our community, along with the creation of innovative publications which foster critical discourse in media arts. We consider all moving image art practices, including film, video, performance, installation and new media forms.
