Submissions for the 21st WNDX Festival of Moving Image are now closed.
We will be accepting submissions for our 2027 edition starting March 15, 2027.
Our submission period is six weeks long, or to a maximum of 1,000 submissions – whichever comes first. We encourage filmmakers submit early due to the maximum number of works we will consider for review.
Please review the open call submission FAQs below prior to making a submission.
Open Call Submission FAQs
PREMIERE REQUIREMENT:
- We only accept Winnipeg premieres through our open call program
- If you book a public Winnipeg screening prior to the WNDX festival after you have made your submission, please notify us IMMEDIATELY at info@wndx.org
FILM AGE REQUIREMENT:
- We accept films made within 21 months of the festival for consideration for our open all program
- For our 2027 festival, we will accept films produced after Jan 1, 2025 and not previously screened or planned to be screened in Winnipeg prior to the 2027 WNDX festival
FILM STATUS:
- We only accept completed films for consideration; works-on-progress or unfinished films should not be submitted us, as we are unable to assess more than one version of a film
RE-SUMBMISSIONS:
- We do not accept re-submissions; if you submitted a work in a prior year, it will be disqualified from consideration as a re-submission
SUBMITTED LINKS:
- The submitter is responsible for providing us a working preview link to the full film being submitted for consideration
- Trailers and excerpts should not be submitted
- Submitted film preview links should remain active until Sept 15
- Only preview links are accepted (such as Vimeo, YouTube, Google Drive, Film Freeway, etc.); links to file downloads will not be accepted
- Film links should come with the needed passwords (if any)
- If submitting a Google Drive link or similar, the link must be set to public access; please verify your link restrictions prior to your submission
- Submissions with broken, restricted or expired links at the time of review, that are viewable only via a file download, or that are trailers or excerpts will be disqualified
- If your film preview link changes during the review period, please email us IMMEDIATELY at info@wndx.org with the new link
MAXIMUM LENGTH ACCEPTED
- For works by Canadian directors, there is no duration limit for individual works submitted, though submitters should note that the selection of works over 15 minutes is highly unlikely, due to limited space
- For works by directors who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents, submissions up to 15 mins can be accepted
- Non Canadian directors should refrain from submitting films over 15:00 mins in length, as these will be automatically disqualified and will not be forwarded to our programmers for review
SUBMISSION FEES & SCREENING PAYMENTS
- WNDX does not charge submission fees
- We pay screening fees for all films screened at the festival
- Payment to Canadian directors will be submitted via e-transfer, and to Non-Canadian directors via PayPal, no later than a month following the festival
